A huge number of Catcliffe and Treeton residents have been severely impacted by the devastating floods following Storm Babet.
We have been urgently assimilating good quality, clean clothes, bedding and toiletries and other items to help our heighbours who have had their homes, belongings and lives devastated.
We delivered all items to the RMBC team at Memorial Hall, Catcliffe this week which were gratefully received.
We are working in collaboration with Respectful Care who have been donating generously and also retail outlet Co Op who have set up a donation box to collect essential items.
We met with Andrea Peers the Senior Neighbourhood Coordinator for South Rotherham (RMBC) with a view to understanding the support that is required going forward. They advise that, at the moment, they are assessing the situation and putting a hold on further donations pending being able to move residents out of temporary accommodation into more permanent accommodation. At that point they will contact Jameel Welfare Trust to seek further help with specific items.
They have our charity, Jameel Welfare Trust registered in their systems as a key charity who will provide ongoing support at the right time.
This is going to be a long term collaboration ....as you can imagine how much work there is to rehouse and rehabilitate the community.
Accordingly we are asking our kind donors to hold onto their donations pending further notification.
Thanks so much to Wayne Swiffin and all the Respectful Care team for raising awareness and all the kindness shown through their donations.
Thanks also to Vanessa Johnson and the Coop Team for establishing the donation buckets.
Thanks to Dean Scott, Shannon Walsh, Emma Louise and all of the donors for their kindness.
People are being brilliant and kindness with compassionate is at the heart of what we do.
In the meantime we are launching a campaign to support the Flood Disaster Appeal to support families and local people who have been displaced from their homes and had their properties damaged by the flood waters.
Please donate generously.
Will keep communicating with you and look forward to continuing our collaborative efforts to ease the plight of the people of Catcliffe and Treeton and help our local communities in any way we can.
